Los guías de turismo cumplen una función que permanentemente enaltece su espíritu y el de quienes lo acompañan. Son intérpretes y mediadores entre el ambiente y las personas, recibiendo y dando un estímulo anímico, natural y humano.
Aunque la belleza de las flores, aves, animales, bosques y montañas nevadas junto al mar han motivado al hombre a conocer, fotografiar e investigar estas latitudes sólo hace unos pocos años comenzamos a tener acceso de manera simple a libros que nos ayuden a conocer el lugar en que estamos.
Hoy, gracias a la sencible personalidad y a la vocación de interpretar y amar esta naturaleza, Evelyn Devereux pone en nuestras manos, luego de "Aves Marinas del Canal Beagle" y "Flora del Archipiélago Fueguino", esta generosa guía de campo "Naturalist Traveller´s guide to Southern Patagonia & Antarctica" con destacables fotografías, adecuado diseño, cómodas dimensiones y una abundante información que nos auxiliará a reconocer en el campo a los Seres de Patagonia.
Finalmente, consideramos que este trabajo es el fruto de la expericiencia directa y profesionalidad de una colega y compañera que se ha esforzado por convertirla en una herramienta para estudiantes, turistas y pobladores que podrán así, conocer un comprender uno de los ambientes más prístinos y bellos del Planeta.

The job done by a tourist guide permenently heightens his or her own spirit and the spirits of those who accompany him or her. Tourist guides are interpreters and mediators between the landscape and people receiving and giving a natural and human stimulus.
Although the beauty of flowers, birds, animals, forests and snow capped mountains by the sea have motivated man to explore, fotograph and investigate this latitud it is only in recent years that books about the area have become available.
Today, thanks to Evelyn Devereux´s sensitive personality and her vocation for interpreting and loving nature, after enjoying "Marine birds of the Beagle Channel" and "Flora of the Fuegian Archipelago", we are now able to enjoy this generous "Field guide to Southern Patagonia & antarctica" with exceptional photography, good design, confortable size and plenty of information that will aid us in recognising the inhabitants of Patagonia in the field.
Finally, we consider that this work is the result of direct professional experience of a collegue and companion who has made an effort to provide this tool for students, tourists and inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego who can, through this guide, get to know and understand one of the most pristine and beautifull place on the Planet.
